Minimalist Camargue White Horses

Tour Leader: Serge Krouglikoff

Photographing the Camargue White Horses is considered a bucket-list experience by equine and wildlife photographers from across the globe. The opportunity to capture this iconic and ancient breed in their natural surroundings offers an unparalleled photographic adventure.

Watching these magnificent white horses, with their flowing manes, splash through the Camargue wetlands is a truly captivating and unforgettable sight for those behind the lens.

For this workshop, we have carefully chosen locations that are particularly effective for minimalist photography, including the marsh, a minimalist lake, a peaceful lagoon, the beach and the shallows of the sea, providing unique opportunities to obtain striking images.

Itinerary

Day 1. Thursday

We will collect you from Montpellier airport for transfer to your charming hotel in the centre of the medieval town of Aigues-Mortes. Take time to unwind, unpack and explore the streets of the city that lies within the mile-long rampart walls.

Late afternoon/early evening, we will gather for a welcome drink and briefing meeting.

Day 2. Friday

At sunrise, we capture the Camargue horses, running together through the shallow waters of a large lake at a minimalist location.

In the afternoon, we head to the beach for a shoot with a beautiful white Camargue stallion. We photograph him rearing on the top of the sand dunes and running through the shallow waters of the sea, making for striking action shots and beautiful portraits.

Day 3. Saturday

In the morning, we photograph the sparring stallions, which is a unique opportunity to see the white horses entwined at full height, in feisty temperament, with their manes flying.

In the afternoon, we head to the beach to capture the white horses running along the golden sand and in the shallows of the Mediterranean Sea, as the sun sets.

Day 4. Sunday

At sunrise, we take portraits of the horses, with beautiful reflections in the lagoon, and as they run through the shallow water.

For the final shoot, we photograph the wild white horses at sunrise running through the marsh.

Day 5. Monday
